Islamophobia and the State
We wrote, produced and animated this series of films based on recent research projects about Islamophobia by the state and in state institutions. We created three animations, each looking at a different part of the state and how it creates, manipulates and reproduces Islamophobia through the media, civil society groups and centrally, the Home Office.
The animations had to be completed in a relatively short space of time for them to launch alongside the publication of the reports, and considering the large amount of animation over the 3 films we had to be creative with how we illustrated ideas and concepts for maximum effect - to make a strong case about how state power works, backing it up with evidence and documents to reinforce the argument, whilst creating an engaging, dynamic and visually interesting piece.
These are not intended to sum up the whole reports, but to be an engaging starter for the key information and arguments that the reports make in much more length and detail. This type of animation which can convey emotion, information, stats, show complex data simply, clearly explain concepts etc can be utilised for many reports in political areas and more.
