Hot Poets

In collaboration with scientists, climate educators and engineers from leading environmental organisations and charities across the world, including the UNFCCC, University College London, the Met Office and London School of Economics – poets and creative change makers Liv Torc and Chris Redmond present Hot Poets, an internationally focused, award winning CIC, working to powerfully communicate climate change science and action through spoken word poetry. The real stories of ingenuity and hope we don’t always hear.

Counterstate Films was bought onto the original Hot Poets project in 2021 to produce the original series of films as well as supporting material, including trailers, behind the scenes photos, behind the scenes video and logo animations. The initial project took 6 shoots over the course of 3 weeks around the country as well as coordinating a shoot in South Africa where one of the poets was based.

The project was a huge success with one of the films - Geology Rocks - going on to win the Community Award at the Earth Futures Film Festival in 2022. We’ve since worked with Hot Poets on a number of different films.
